Johann specialises in all aspects of financial services law and regulation. He has represented corporate clients in various high-profile investigations, and has extensive experience in making representations to regulators and appearing at enquiries. Johann has also been involved in matters relating to money laundering and market abuse as well as matters that pertain to derivatives, mutual funds, collective investment schemes and asset management.

His expertise extends to stock exchange and securities law, consumer protection law and climate change law. He has been chairman of the Gauteng Law Council, the Insurance Committee of the International Bar Association and the Association of Banking Lawyers of South Africa. He has also served on the Council of the Legal Practice Division of the International Bar Association. Johann has lectured on behalf of the Law Society of South Africa and has written on topics such as money laundering, insider trading, banking law and climate change law. His expertise has been recognised by various international research organisations including Chambers Global, IFLR1000 and Who’s Who Legal.
